Hunting Area:

Mazatlan Dove & Duck Hunting Club has the exclusive hunting rights on over 100 square miles along the Laguna Vieja estuary which stretches over 130 miles from Mazatlan to the south. We hunt in American-style blinds on over 50 fresh water ponds which we own or lease, and in natural blinds on the estuary itself. Mexican wildlife officials estimate that the Laguna Vieja estuary hosts 2.5 million wintering ducks. On a given day, fewer than two dozen hunters hunt on or around the estuary. As a result, Mazatlan Dove & Duck Hunting Club enjoys unspoiled, natural hunting over decoys.

Hunting Seasons, Guns, Weather And Clothing:

Mazatlan hunting begins on the first Saturday in November and ends on the first Saturday in March. We hunt every day except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, so you and your friends can come when it is convenient.

Bringing a gun into Mexico is expensive and can be a real hassle. As a result, we have an ample supply of new 12 and 20 gauge automatics and over-and-under shotguns for your use. Similarly, we provide you with good, high or low brass shells.

Not only great hunting, but perfect hunting conditions! Hunting ducks in Mazatlan is a warm-weather sport. Temperatures average 78-82° during the day and 55-65° at night. As a result, we wear khaki shorts or pants and camo "T" shirts. Mazatlan Hunting has all the other gear you need: just bring your toothbrush.

Species Available:

We regularly shoot 17 different species. Many hunters come to Mazatlan Dove & Duck Hunting Club to complete their collections with perfect specimens of pintails, cinnamon teal, ruddy ducks and pichiguila (fulvous and black bellied whistling duck).

If you are a collector, your prize will be quick frozen to keep it in perfect condition for your trip home and to your taxidermist.

Hunters are also entitled to bring 30 ducks and 30 doves back for summer barbeques. Mazatlan Dove & Duck Hunting Club staff will prepare your birds to comply with all federal regulations so that bringing them through customs and agriculture will be “hassle-free”.
