The hunt

This is a very attractive combo program. Usually we shoot ducks at least three mornings, two or three afternoons for dove and pigeon and while we are on season, one or two afternoons for perdiz. The group can choose what to hunt the rest of the time and as an alternative we offer one afternoon of fishing for Dorado, “the tiger of the river”. Duck hunting is over decoys, perdiz with pointing dogs and fast shooting for doves and pigeons. The area is very interesting because of the diversity of fauna and flora. Important: season for perdiz is short!

Limits:

30 ducks per day.

10 perdiz per day

Doves: Can expect to shoot around 300 shells in ½ day.

Pigeons: Is the least reliable, sometimes mixed with the doves. If you want pigeons mainly, you need to go to Santiago.

Even though the duck spots are close to the lodge, the access can be difficult. Some times we need to ride horses or take little boats towed by a horse.

CAUTION! For many hunters this is the highlight of the trip, but the physical condition may be a limitation. Also the Perdiz requires long walking.

Species

 The lodge

Los Isleños is a ranch where we grow rice, corn, sorghum and other crops. The house is not very big, but very cozy, has 2 double bedrooms with private bathrooms and 3 more bedrooms sharing two bathrooms. Ideal size of group is 6. The food is absolutely outstanding and so it is the hospitality of our staff.
